The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged theft and sale of electrical cables at Agbona Village, Iwo, Osun State.
The suspects, identified as Taliatu Olunlade, 60; Wasiu Olunlade, 25; and Ganiyu Ayomide, 22, were arrested by personnel of the Command’s Divisional Office at Agbona Village, Iwo, following an investigation into the disappearance of electrical cables temporarily removed from the area.
According to the State Commandant, CC Toma Enya, the cables were temporarily removed in November 2025 to facilitate road construction activities in the area, following an arrangement reportedly reached between the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) and community leaders of Agbona Village.

The cables were subsequently packaged and kept at a location close to the residence of one of the villagers, identified as Taliatu Olunlade, for safekeeping.
Commandant Enya said, after some months, the cables reportedly began to disappear gradually, prompting an investigation by the NSCDC.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly removed the electrical cables in bits and sold them to one Aminu, a metal scrap dealer, popularly known as “Bollar,” who is currently at large.
The Osun NSCDC boss said the suspects confessed to selling the stolen cables to Aminu on two separate occasions for a total sum of ₦150,000.
He stated that the investigation is ongoing, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the said Aminu and bring him to justice, noting that, upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects would be charged to court in accordance with the law, where their fate would be determined.
The State Commandant warned individuals and criminal elements involved in the vandalism, theft or illegal trading of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure to desist from such acts, stressing that the Command under his watch would continue to intensify enforcement operations across the State.
He further called on the people of Osun State to support the Command by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities, particularly those relating to the theft, vandalism or illegal sale of electrical cables and other Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.
