These governors should stop putting Mr. President unnecessarily on the spot and, instead, be proactive in working to deliver their states for the APC. They should stop using Wike as an excuse. If care is not taken, they may eventually justify what he called them, politically lazy.

More importantly, they wanted to blackmail him, but as things stand, the table appears to have turned against them. His issues are majorly with Hope Uzodimma, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and perhaps one or two other governors.

Interestingly, Wike said he harvested the aggrieved APC members and ensured they did not join the ADC and NDC, which are frontally opposed to Mr. President. From a purely political standpoint, I think that makes some sense.

And that is precisely why they cannot successfully bully Wike. He has taken on Hope Uzodimma over his alleged Senate Presidency ambition. His argument is that someone who still has over a year before his governorship tenure expires, yet is already positioning himself for another office, is creating a bigger confusion in the system than his own rainbow coalition.

Then, turning to Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Wike asked how he could blame him when, according to Wike, Abdulrazaq walked into Bukola Saraki’s trap by himself, removing all the sitting National Assembly members and replacing them with his own stooges. He even went as far as describing him as “timid.”

At the end of the day, the governors need to look beyond Wike and focus on the bigger political assignment: delivering their states for the APC and ensuring that they show him that they are not push over.
