Billionaire’s son Raheem Okoya announces professional exit from the music industry

Nigerian singer Raheem Okoya, popularly known as Sir Raheem, and son of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, has announced his professional exit from the music industry.

The 23-year-old singer made the announcement in an Instagram post on Wednesday, August 27, 2026, explaining that his other commitments had made it increasingly difficult to give music the level of effort and dedication it deserved.

Raheem reflected on his musical journey, describing the past few years as a “magical” experience filled with major performances, memorable moments and recognition from artistes he once admired.

He revealed that his career initially started as a hobby he shared with friends before developing into a professional pursuit.

However, he said balancing music with his other responsibilities had become increasingly challenging over the past year.

Over the past year, holding that alongside my other commitments has grown harder. I’ve always believed in giving everything my best, and I no longer feel I can give this craft the effort, patience, and dedication it truly deserves,” he wrote.

So I owe it to my true fans, and to my colleagues in this industry, a professional exit. I have decided to stop putting out new music.”

Despite stepping away from releasing new music, Raheem said his love for music remains intact and hinted that previously recorded material, including an album, could still be released in the future.

He also revealed plans to explore other creative ventures, assuring his fans that the “best” of him is yet to come.

Raheem currently serves as the executive director of Eleganza Industrial City Limited, a company owned by his father.

Earlier in 2026, he disclosed that he had been learning under his father and preparing for his role in the family business since he was 13.
